June 6. Tuesday marks a rare congressional June primary for North Carolina voters. The ballot features North Carolina State Supreme Court candidates and congressional candidates that are based on the new district lines approved by the federal courts.
Four candidates have filed for the supreme court seat. The two top vote-getters in the primary will go on to the general election in November.
Republican Justice Bob Edmunds will be trying to hold on to his seat, allowing the state’s high court to retain its conservative majority.
The ballot will also have candidates for the U. S. House of Representatives in districts where more than one candidate in a party has filed.
Every registered voter, regardless of party affiliation, may vote in this primary.
Voters can find their polling site at http://vt.ncsbe.gov/pollingplace_search/. Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.
