Bio
Butler, the dean of the Department of Education at UNC Charlotte, earned a B.S. in in Physics from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He also completed an MEd and PhD in Curriculum and Instruction (Science Education) at the University of Florida. According to his bio at UNCC, Butler has taught and learned mathematics, science and life from elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as college students.
Special awards
The Chamber will also present the Outstanding Educator for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), Charter Schools, and Private Schools along with the “Inspire our Future” award to the Lake Norman business or corporation that promotes career placement and vocational education.
