Aug. 11. Southern Tide, an upscale “coastal” clothing store for men, women and children, has opened adjacent to Eez Fusion in Birkdale Village. Next up is Monkee’s, a boutique offering women’s clothing, shoes and accessories. The Birkdale Village store will be the 14th location for the business which is owned and operated by Huntersville resident Kim Dawsey.

Five new retailers announced back in the spring they were coming to Birkdale Village. The others — Anthropologie, Evereve and Lilly Pulitzer — haven’t yet set opening dates. An Apple Store is under construction.
