March 22. [Updated March 23] By TL Bernthal. HomeSense will open 8 am Thursday, March 23, in Cornelius.
The store will sell furniture, rugs, decor and wall art, lamps and other lighting, kitchen and dining items, and organizational solutions such as for storage.
The store replaces Stein Mart, which closed, making room for HomeSense and Total Wine. Flair Trade consignment also lost its lease to create the space.
HomeSense touts global and top brands that arrive every week, with prices 20 percent to 50 percent less than other retailers.
Regular hours will be 9 am to 10 pm daily, after the 8 am grand opening.
The Store at The Shops at the Fresh Market, 20615 Torrence Chapel Rd., is one of four grand openings announced for the Southeast.
A store at Afton Ridge in Concord will open Thursday, April 6.
Two others recently opened in Florida.
Home Sense is part of the TJX Companies along with TJ Max, Marshalls, HomeGoods and Sierra.
Birkdale Village musical chairs
Retailers in Birkdale Village in Huntersville report these changes for later this spring / early summer:
—Lululemon moves to the larger Victoria’s Secret space.
—Victoria’s Secret moves across the street to the old Loft space.
—Airlie Baby moves from one kiosk to another opposite Morelia. The two kiosks closest to where Brixx will be have plumbing and other features suitable for food and beverage.
—An as-yet not named neighbor moves into the kiosk closest to restaurant eeZ and the movie theater.
Empty chairs: A kiosk, the Lululemon space and the old Charming Charlie fashion accessory space. Managers at Banana Republic said Anthropologie was moving into the space, but Birkdale Village owners North American Properties said: “We do not have a lease signed with Anthropologie and have not yet shared what will be taking over the Banana Republic space.”
You did not mention that these two stores take the place of not only Steinmart but a very favorite Consignment Store, Flair Trade which we ALL LOVED! Hoping they will be able to find retail space to offer this community a store to resell clothes thus recycling and not discarding clothes. What a great store to have in our community!
Great additions for LKN shopping venues to remain relevant in an ever-changing and competitive retail industry environment.
