Aug. 29. Daumar Corp., a vertically integrated manufacturer of machinery and the consumables the machinery utilizes to make packaging for the fresh produce industry, will build its first plant in The Park – Huntersville.
Daumar will invest $21 million during the first phase of construction. The 120,000 square-foot facility will bring 40 new jobs to Lake Norman. The company specializes in blown film extrusion and knitted netting used in produce packaging across the country.
“We are excited about establishing our first U.S. flexographic printing facility in Huntersville,” said Luis Mendoza, of Daumar.
International advanced manufacturers continue to be a target industry for Lake Norman Economic Development, said Ryan McDaniels, executive director of the EDC.
Key partners in landing the project include Mecklenburg County, the Town of Huntersville and the Charlotte Chamber. The proposed facility is contingent upon approval of an Economic Development Incentive grant by the Huntersville Town Board of Commissioners.
Daumar produces weighing machines, bagging machines, auxiliary equipment, knitted netting, extruded netting, printed labels and other accessories.
