May 4. Carrie Hewitt is the new chief operations and compliance officer at Cornelius-based Aquesta Bank. A Davidson resident, she has 14 years of banking experience as well as 10 more years in finance and audit in other industries.

She most recently served as director of internal audit and compliance officer at Albemarle-based Uwharrie Bank. and before that, chief auditor for Yadkin Bank. She also First Charter Bank prior to its acquisition by Fifth Third Bank.

In her new role at Aquesta, Hewitt will be responsible for oversight of all regulatory compliance risks for Aquesta Bank.
