Gary Byrd has received the Distinguished Service Awards from SCORE Charlotte. The awards were presented by Juliette Weiland, SCORE Charlotte president and chapter chair at the recent annual meeting.

Byrd, a Huntersville resident, joined SCORE in 2016. He was honored for his leadership and commitment to organizing and restructuring SCORE Charlotte’s client services program. This included the Chapter’s highly successful Simple Steps in Starting Your Business workshop series that help entrepreneurs wanting to start a business or those in business test their business ideas or review their business strategy. He was also cited for introducing the technology whereas attendees could immediately be entered into the SCORE Charlotte data base upon registration rather than rely and train different instructors to do that.

Byrd has over 35 years experience, including starting and growing two successful small businesses, 25 years of which was in creating and guiding the marketing efforts of two large corporations. He also served as an adjunct Professor of Small Business at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Fla.
