Dec. 30 D. Kevin Joyce, North Carolina state legal counsel and vice president of Master Title Agency, has been certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a specialist in residential real property law.
Joyce is one of 45 North Carolina attorneys certified as a specialist in a designated practice area in 2014 and just one of two certified in residential real property law.
To be certified as a specialist in a practice area, an attorney must have been in practice for at least five years; devote a significant part of his or her practice to the specialty area; attending continuing legal education seminars in the specialty; be favorably evaluated by his or her peers; and pass a written examination in the specialty practice area.
Prior to joining Master Title in 2005, Joyce was engaged in private practice, primarily in the areas of real estate law, foreclosure, zoning, municipal, collections, landlord/tenant issues and general practice law.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Juris doctor degree, summa cum laude, from the North Carolina Central University School of Law. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, Gaston County Bar, North Carolina Bar Association (Real Property Section), and Mecklenburg Real Property Council.
