July 16. Steven H. Jewell, CEO of The Pines in Davidson, will be resigning this fall, after five years at the retirement community. As CEO, Jewell led this nonprofit continuing care retirement community through a transformative period that has included a major campus expansion, a $3 million capital campaign and the advancement of campus information technologies.
Over the last four months, Jewell has led The Pines through its rapid response to the threat of COVID-19 and the delivery of resident services to assure the greatest safety to the community.
“Steve’s commitment to The Pines – both the daily rigors of managing a large senior living community combined with careful attention to ensuring a strong future for The Pines – will leave a lasting legacy,” said Harrison Marshall, Chair of The Pines’ board of directors.
Jewell said it has been a great honor to shepherd The Pines.
“With the guidance of a superb Board and work of a truly outstanding leadership team, we engaged in a comprehensive planning process that drew extensively on input from residents, future residents and industry experts to identify future needs,” he said.
The COVID-19 public health crisis has been the focus of his attention lately.
“The impact COVID-19 has had on virtually every aspect of our Pines community and the communities around us is unprecedented and all-encompassing,” he said.
He said he looks forward to spending more time with family in Virginia, including a grandchild born just a few days ago.
