Nov. 25. Jim Puckett says he will file next week to run for his old seat on the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners. He lost his bid for re-election in November of last year.

“In less than a year of governance we have seen a budget that was formed under illegal processes, a singular tax increase on the entire county and two on nearly 60% of Mecklenburg County taxpayers as well as an additional attempt to increase sales taxes all without the benefit of public debate, transparency and inclusion,” he said in a press release this afternoon.

Democrats swept many of the 2017 state elections: Elaine Powell defeated Puckett who was a veteran of both the county commission and the Board of Education. Puckett said he will “bust the monopoly” on the current board which is all Democratic.

NC Rep. John Bradford also lost to Christy Clark in the District 98 race. He, too, says he will run for his old seat.
