The theme of the Lake Norman Chamber’s Sixth Annual Women’s Conference is “Truth, Courage, and Empowerment: Don’t Be Silent.” Organized by the Diversity Council the event is 10 am to 4 pm at The Peninsula Club April 19.
“This past year a great deal of focus has been placed on sexual harassment and #MeToo Movement. Our Diversity Council discussed this issue at length and we felt this year’s program captured the spirit of women who have met obstacles and barriers to success. Through determination, courage, and resilience women have overcome those challenges and have become role models for a generation of future women executives,” said Major Patricia Brown, Sr. , Program Developer, Law Enforcement Training for Central Piedmont Community College – Merancas Campus. She is the Chair of the 2018 Conference.
The keynote speaker is Dee Worley, Co-Founder and Chief Communications Officer for Worley Global Enterprises. A Lake Norman resident, Dee made a name for herself as a USA and NCAA national and international gymnastics champion. Other speakers include Ms. Christi Ratcliff with Christi Ratcliff Coaching, Dr. Tracie S. Clark, Executive Assistant to the President of Central Piedmont Community College and Dr. Lindsey Mashburn, a local Gynecologist with South Lake Women’s Healthcare.
Also joining the lineup is Dr. Janna Son-Yarbrough, Senior Peer Developer with Central Piedmont Community College.
Wine and cheese will be served during a fun-filled team-building exercise. The program, complete with education and networking, costs $75, which includes lunch and the wine and cheese event. Register by calling the Lake Norman Chamber at 704-892-1922 or online at LakeNormanChamber.org.
