Aug. 30. The Mooresville South Iredell Economic Development Corporation and Statesville Regional Development are pooling their resources and economic strengths to hire a single director to oversee the county’s economic development efforts. Russ Rogerson was chosen by both boards of directors to be the new executive director effective Oct. 1.
A veteran economic developer, Rogerson will work with both boards and the current economic offices and staffs in Statesville and Mooresville will remain in place. The two boards have tasked Rogerson with overseeing the development and implementation of this new alignment.
Rogerson is a 15-year veteran of the economic development profession, Rogerson has successfully practiced economic development in Ohio and North Carolina in small, medium, and large Metropolitan areas. He will be coming to Iredell County from the Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation.
Before his Fayetteville work, Rogerson was a senior vice president of business development services at the Charlotte Regional Partnership. He joined the CRP after serving as the Executive Director of the Mooresville South Iredell Economic Development Corp. from 2008-2011. During his time in Mooresville, the MSIEDC and the SRD together achieved the No. 1 designation by Site Selection magazine for two years as the top Micropolitan Community in the U.S. for business growth development.
In North Carolina, Rogerson is active in the regional and State economic development organizations including serving on the board of the North Carolina Southeastern Partnership. He is a member of the North Carolina Economic Development Association and the International Economic Development Council. In Fayetteville, he serves on the Fayetteville Regional Airport Board and the Sustainable Sandhills Board of Directors.
