A 9,866-square foot lakefront home at 16709 Tinker Place sold in December for $3.7 million. Tinker is a small street off Molly Pop Lane, where race driver Denny Hamlin is building a 30,000 square foot house.
The three-level, seven-bedroom mansion that sold Dec. 17 was built in 2012. The seller and builder was Jamie Rolewiscz of Champion Tire & Wheel in Cornelius. The buyer is James F. Burr.
The house has a five-car garage, an elevator, a salt water pool and a complete second kitchen on the lake level, as well as 5,000 square feet of outdoor living space.
The house was listed at $4.5 million by the father-son team of Jim Carlyle and Lance Carlyle of Cornelius-based Carlyle Properties.
Terry Donahue with Carlyle Properties brought the buyer.
The sale ties the most expensive home sold on Lake Norman for all of 2015, a $3.7 million sale in The Point, at 119 S. Longfellow, which was also listed with Carlyle Properties.
In October, a 9,800 square foot house at 4329 Fox Brook Lane in Charlotte,sold for $3.5 million.
Buyers in the $2 million-plus price range are a rare breed. “Buyers in this price point come from all over the world with a good number of them paying cash. Domestically, buyers from the northeast and the West Coast see our market as quite a bargain, with taxes and luxury home prices being so much lower,” said Dixie Dean of Allen Tate.
In Cornelius
A stately home at 19100 Meta Road in The Peninsula has sold for $720,000 after being listed at $729,000 by Dixie Dean in the Lake Norman office of Allen Tate Co. The 1.5 story transitional home, which backs up to the golf course, has 3,588 square feet of living area. There is a cook’s kitchen, and the master suite opens to a large slate terrace. The house, which has a tax value of $495,000, also has a three-car garage on two-thirds of an acre. John Rhodes of Southern Homes of the Carolinas represented the buyers. The house was on the market less than a month.

A house at 21104 Blakely Shores Drive in Waterford Point has sold for $872,000 after being on the market a little over two months. The lakefront house, which has 3,490 square feet of heated living area, has four bedrooms and 3.5 baths on two levels. The house, which has a tax value of $839,200, has a gazebo and an elevated walkway to the dock, a sandy beach and 175 feet of shoreline.
Neal Crites of Crites Real Estate listed the property at $899,000; B.J. Knox of Allen Tate represented the buyers.
In Huntersville
A house on five acres at 15810 Huntingtowne Village Road has sold for $1.075 million after being listed at $1.175 million by Doris Nash and Jessica Simpson of Ivester Jackson Distinctive Properties. The 4,670-square foot house has a gated private drive and a 24 foot by 32 foot partially open storage building. The property is in a Farmhouse Cluster zone off Ramah Church Road and Hiwassee Road not far from the Metrolina Greenhouse complex.
In Mooresville
A Nantucket-style estate at 185 Shelbourne Place in The Point has sold for $2.66 million after being listed at $2.75 million by Reed Jackson and Doris Nash of Ivester Jackson Distinctive Properties in Cornelius. The 8,444 square foot house, assessed at $2.3 million, has a boat slip, and in ground pool. It has four bedrooms, five baths, a media room and a fully finished basement that includes wine and entertainment areas. The house was on the market for 67 days. Matt Sarver of Keller Williams Lake Norman represented the buyers.

A lakefront home at 156 Teakwood Lane in the Sailors Lair subdivision has sold for $787,500 after being listed at $838,000 by Julie Jones of Lake Norman Realty. The one-story house has a total of 1,745 square feet on .85 acres, with 117 feet of waterfront. The house has sunset main channel views under a canopy of trees. There is a pier with a 20 foot by 20 foot covered gazebo. The interior includes a remodeled kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances as well as three bedrooms and two baths. The house, which has a tax value of $532,480, was on the market 94 days. Neal Crites of Crites Real Estate represented the buyers.
In Concord
The home of Roy Davis, the late chairman emeritus of S&D Coffee, has sold for $567,000 after being listed at $625,000 by Diane Honeycutt of Team Honeycutt at Allen Tate Realtors in Concord. Davis was one of the most successful and legendary entrepreneurs in the Charlotte region. He grew his father’s company from a small supplier of coffee into one of the world’s purveyors of coffee and tea. The Davis home, at 440 SE Caldwell Drive, is on 5.15 acres not far from historic downtown Concord. The stately home has 3,698 square feet of space on the main level; 1,580 square feet on the upper level and 1,744 square feet in the basement level. The house has a stone fireplace in the great room and his and hers baths in the master. The selling agent was Carrie Craver of Southern Homes of the Carolinas. The house, which has a tax value of $745,270, was on the market for seven months.
