Feb. 24. By Dave Yochum. A new retailer coming to Birkdale Village next month is sure to be top of mind if not top of head. Premium headware brand melin will open in Kiosk 4 at 16942 Birkdale Commons Pkwy. with products inspired by golf and baseball caps.
Price range from around $60 to more than $90.
Melin movement
Founders Brian McDonell and Corey Roth grew up playing outdoor sports in Southern California surrounded by some of the most influential music, art and fashion in the world—the inspiration behind their plan for more than just another cap.
Theirs are made with premium materials—think leather seating in a luxury car—with special features like a hidden pocket for a key and a thumbprint logo under the under visor to prevent oil smudges.

Head shot
The business launched in 2013; within one year, they generated over $1 million in revenue and a cult-like following.
The brand is well-known for its water-friendly Hydro Collection and a range of cold-weather options in the Thermal Collection.
The Birkdale Village kiosk will be the brand’s fifth location, known as a “Customer Experience Lab.”
Quotable
“We’re stoked to plant melin’s southern roots in Huntersville, especially at a thriving destination like Birkdale Village. There’s a truly special community vibe here, and we look forward to being part of that.”
—Khang Tran, senior manager of retail at melin
