Aug. 15. Lake Norman Economic Development (LNED) has completed its second round of PIVOT internships which bridge the gap between education and workforce development for high school students. PIVOT provides hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing and skilled trades including motorsports, IT, marketing, planning, research and development, human resources, engineering and testing, HVAC and more.

This year’s cohort included 21 area high school rising juniors, seniors, and recent graduates. The eight-week,160-hour program included Metrolina Greenhouses, Champion Wheel and Tire, Forbo, Atom Power, Keller Technologies, First Turn Innovations, Anderson Heating and Cooling and NuBlue Electrical, Plumbing, Heating and Air.
Local experts and resources were brought in throughout the program to enhance financial literacy and aid in personal and professional development of participants through a variety of specialized workshops.
