Dogwood: A Southern Table rendering

March 18. Rare Roots Hospitality, owned by Kim & Jon Dressler of Dressler’s fame, will reopen Dogwood: A Southern Table in the newly renovated Westin Charlotte later this year.

Located in Ashley Square in SouthPark from 2014 to 2023, Dogwood was known for its modern approach to Southern classics, seasonal produce, an inventive cocktail menu and hospitality.

“When we closed Dogwood, we had every hope that the right opportunity would present itself for us to bring back this beloved concept,” says owner Jon Dressler. “We are thrilled to bring both Southern cuisine and hospitality to Uptown Charlotte and become a part of The Westin Charlotte’s beautiful revamp.”

Rare Roots was the company behind Dressler’s, a mainstay in Birkdale Village for more than 20 years. Dressler closed it last year and reopened it as Fin & Fino, a “social seafood house,” with coastal vibes and a menu of small plates, late last month. Fin & Fino also has a location Uptown at 135 Levine Avenue of the Arts.

Kim Dressler, who is known as The Boss, is the driving design force behind all of the RRH concepts. Her vision, tastes, color pallets and style are on display in all of the restaurants. They live in Davidson.

A family of eateries

Rare Roots Hospitality includes Chapter Six, Dogwood: A Southern Table (opening at The Westin Charlotte in late 2024), Dressler’s at The Metropolitan, Dressler’s Improv Kitchen at Middle C Jazz, Fin & Fino (Birkdale Village and Uptown), Joan’s Bakery and Deli, and The Porter’s House.

The new Dogwood location will have a mix of tables and soft seating to accommodate 140 guests, as well as a 36-seat bar at its center.
