May 5. By Dave Yochum. Two weeks after it opened, Hot Mess in Davidson has temporarily closed its doors to “address operational challenges and take responsibility” for not meeting its standards.
“We realized that our standards and, quite frankly, our guests’ standards were not being met,” said Robert Maynard, CEO of Won Life Holdings and CEO and founder of Famous Toastery.
Background
He opened Hot Mess with noted chef and restaurateur Jennifer Brulé in the old Davidson Ice House on Main Street.
Quotable-1
“Rather than stay open and continue to provide a less-than-stellar experience, we decided to take full ownership and responsibility for our shortcomings. We’re working hard to address these challenges and will come back stronger and better than ever,” Maynard said.
When Brulé opened Davidson Ice House in 2018 in the town’s former ice house at 416 S. Main Street, it was an instant success.
Quotable-2
“I’m a hot mess – but I hope in an endearing way. That’s literally why we chose that name,” Brule said.
