Aug. 20. Local band, Route 66 and Friends, will perform at the Hotel Concord Ballroom to benefit the hospice and palliative care of Cabarrus County. The fundraiser will take place on Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. The event will offer food from Union Street Bistro, a wine tasting hosted by Cougar Run Winery and a silent auction. Jim Carriker will reprise his role in the band for the event because the cause is highly important to his family. His family used hospice care for his late mother during her final days in 2007.
