PreGel America plans to invest $14.4 million in Concord plant

PreGel America will invest $14.4 million for equipment and to expand its Concord operations.

The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners and Concord City Council approved a three-year, performance-based tax incentive totaling $249,900 for Cabarrus County and $171,360 for the City of Concord.

PreGel America makes semi-finished dessert ingredients and supplies. Headquartered in Reggio Emilia, Italy, the company’s product lines support everything from gelato and ice cream to pastry and specialty beverages.

“PreGel is excited about the opportunity to further expand our facility in the City of Concord,” said Marco Casol, president and CEO of PreGel. “We have found great success among the diverse network of businesses in the area, and we’re proud to be a part of this infrastructure and grow with the progressive development that Concord is experiencing.”

The company has helped shape Cabarrus County’s international economic profile,  said Steve Morris, chair of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. “They’ve found the right formula for success, and we’ve got room for them to grow,” he said.

The expansion will add approximately 110,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space at its operation located at 4450 Fortune Ave. NW in Concord. The company, which opened here in 2006, currently has 93 workers.
