Alevo appoints Duke Energy exec to lead sales, field ops

Jan. 29. Alevo Group has appointed Jeff Gates as director of sales and field operations. Gates, an acknowledged leader in the energy industry, will head Alevo’s energy storage deployment and operations out of the company’s Concord manufacturing headquarters.

In this position, Gates will be responsible for GridBank customer sales and helping strengthen Alevo’s position as the driving force in the energy storage industry.

Gates joins Alevo after a 14-year career at Duke Energy, where for the past six years he has specialized in energy storage. His experience includes the development of a $44 million, 36 megawatt storage system at Duke’s Notrees wind farm in Texas.

Gate’s considerable experience and knowledge also stem from his role as Vice Chair of the Energy Storage Association. This expertise will be used to build on Alevo’s successful sales record and expand the company’s track record for delivering key strategic national level contracts to customers such as China-ZK and RBM in Turkey.

“The appointment of Jeff Gates is a significant milestone for us,” said Jean-Claude Beney, president of the Alevo Group. “His extensive background in the energy storage market and experience delivering large-scale solutions is unrivaled.”

“By joining Alevo, I know I am joining a company on the verge of greatness,” said Gates. “I believe this company has the potential to transform not only the energy storage market, but the way in which the world will harness electricity on a global scale for generations.”
